Recent FairTrade Workshop in Woodchurch High School
On the 27th January our Global Learning Support Officer, Jason Ward went to Woodchurch High School Birkenhead and held a FairTrade Workshop. Jason spent the morning running two very interesting workshops with Eco Reps. He worked initially with the Year 8 reps, then the Year 7s and Eco Committee members also attended at their convenience.
The workshop involved information about the logo itself and what Fair Trade is all about, why it is important and how the Fair Trade premium helps to build schools, healthcare centres, water pumps and more, thus raising the standard of living for farmers and other community members in developing countries.
At the end of the sessions, the pupils made plans for what they can personally do to help, just in time for FairTrade Fortnight, taking place from 29 February – 13 March.
We have had extremely positive feedback from the school.
Workshops are running again from 22nd February.
