March 4, 2015 in Education
Last week Andrea attended the steering group meeting for the network: Teachers Agents of Change. The bi-annual meeting took place in the charming city of Granz, in Austria. This European project aims to promote global education in the Czech Republic and Poland, working alongside NGO’s and teacher training universities to embed this in their education system. Colleagues in the UK and from Austria are acting in a support capacity to assist in the use of global learning.
A particular focus at this meeting was the use of Philosophy for Children in education and its role in engaging with learners, through hypothetical questions and discussion, who perhaps do not respond to traditional methods of teaching and also how it enables teachers to consider the power they hold as educators and whether they wish to create a learning environment in which questions are encouraged. The project is moving into it’s final year and building towards an international conference in Prague in October 2015.
