Ten Tonne Challenge

Ten Tonne Challenge

Did you know 22,000 tonnes of textiles are thrown away in Merseyside each year? We’re calling on schools in Merseyside to join us for the Ten Tonne Challenge and help us divert 10 tonnes of textile waste from the rubbish bin.

The Ten Tonne Challenge is a curriculum linked, creative approach to understanding how our clothes affect the planet. The project will inform pupils about the causes and consequences of climate change, the impact of textiles and how we can create a different future. This project is aimed at KS3 and KS4. An upper KS2 course is also available.

How?

  • Teachers can access online training sessions, curriculum linked resources with lesson plans and virtual assemblies.
  • Pupils can take part in creative, active sessions to develop their own knowledge and opinions.
  • Schools will have the opportunity raise up to £500 through a textile collection while being part of a regional project.

This project is delivered in partnership with Faiths4Change and funded by the Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority Community Fund.
